we give thanks for the wonders of creation,
especially the creatures with whom we share this planet.
Help us to be well informed, compassionate
and willing to act on their behalf.

Loving God,
we thank you for all the books that we enjoy;
all the characters we encounter;
and the worlds and situations they help us explore.
Thank you for the people who write and produce them;
the people who read to us and the people who have helped us to learn to read!
We thank you for the Bible, the Torah, the Qu'ran and other Sacred Scriptures,
the writings you inspire where we can learn to live life in all its fullness.
AMEN

In British Science Week, here's a one minute prayer video celebrating Women in Science! (It's one we devised for 11th February which is International Day for Women and Girls in Science but it's definitely worth repeating here!)
A Prayer for this week (available here as a 1:00 video)
Loving God, we thank you for the discoveries already made by women in science
which have contributed so much to our understanding of the universe.
We give thanks for these inspirational women who were strong enough
to break through the barriers placed in front of them
by society's expectations at the time.
Help us to break through any barriers which might prevent us
from being the best we can be.
We ask this in your Holy Name. AMEN
