First Friday - Katherine - poppies (Mrs O'Brien's nan)

This was the First Friday of the month and it turned into a Fantastic Friday!

It started with Hymns Old and New and Katherine in Y12 chose two lovely hymns and explained why they were special to her.  Her witness was so lovely - a calm expression of faith and what it means to her.  Everyone left feeling very uplifted.  Here are the hymns - but they're not as good without the amazing introductions Katherine gave them.

Here is love, vast as the ocean
Bless the Lord, O my soul

At break, there was much poppy selling going on as the knitted and crocheted poppies made by Mrs O'Brien's nan were made available.  This wonderful lady has made 100 poppies!  It must have taken a great deal of time and I wonder what was going through her head as she was doing so many.  It's good that we don't forget the sacrifice of so many  who died or were maimed in the keeping of Britain safe.  The poppy is a tangible symbol of that remembrance!  Wear yours with pride over the next week or so!
