Prayer at the start of a new academic year

Dear Heavenly Father, as we begin our new academic year, we thank you for the opportunities it brings.

In 2026, we will celebrate 175 years of Notre Dame education in this city, so we give thanks for the gift of the Notre Dame Sisters and pray that we can proudly continue to share and honour their legacy.

We ask for your protection over all students, teachers, and staff, keeping them safe from harm and filling them with Your presence.

For those school communities that are hurting at this time, we pray for their healing and comfort.

Lord, grant us the wisdom to learn, the courage to face challenges, and the kindness to treat others with compassion.

May we always be an example of your love to the students, parents and colleagues that we serve – a love that goes beyond the bricks and mortar of a building.

May this be a year of joy, peace, and growth, where we can all be beacons of Your love, light and hope.
