GLOBAL FOOD INJUSTICE PRAYER WEEK
This week, our whole school prayer focus will be on GLOBAL FOOD INJUSTICE. Part of our Live Simply Plan is to stand in solidarity with those who suffer injustice and are in desperate need. During daily Sacred Time, students will learn about the effects that war and climate change are having on global hunger.
In particular, we will look at how multinational seed companies are dominating how seeds are distributed to farmers, so that (predominately female) farmers have less variety in what they produce, little control of the market price and are subject to stricter laws determined by governments on what they can grow.
This is good for big business profits but not so good for the farmers who grow the majority of the world’s food.
We need the UK government to use its voice at the World Bank to create a more sustainable and supportive environment for farmers. So, CAFOD ask us to support their ‘FIX THE FOOD SYSTEM’ campaign. Join their petition by emailing the UK Executive Director of the World Bank, Vel Gnanendran via the link below

This is also a perfect opportunity to discuss this issue at home and perhaps reassess how much food we really need and how much food we waste!
Live simply, sustainably and in solidarity
Reduce food waste by only taking what you know you can eat!
Let us pray for an end to the waste and ruin of God’s creation, for the fruits of creation to be shared equally among all people, and for communities and nations to find sustenance in the fruits of the earth and the water God has given us. Amen.
