Wishing those students who celebrate it… a Happy Eid-Al-Fitr!
Eid al-Fitr, the feast (‘îd) of the Breaking of the Fast,
begins when the moon is sighted on the evening
of the first day of the month of Shawwal, the
month which follows Ramadan.
It is also known as the Lesser Feast (al-‘îd al-saghîr) compared to Eidal-Adha, the feast of the Sacrifice, or the Greater Feast (al-‘îd al-kabîr), commemorating the sacrifice of Abraham and which is celebrated on the 10th day of Dhu al-hijja (the Pilgrimage month).
On Eid al-Fitr children usually receive gifts of new
clothes and toys, as well as sweets.
