Cycle - Wed Ref - 1804

Woke up early this morning, saw the sun and the forecast and took the snap decision to ride my bike into school.  It is, after all, Bike Week in the UK!

Full of enthusiasm, I pedalled out of St. Helens, and got through Huyton and felt that sinking feeling - a flat tyre!!!!  Fortunately, I'd had a flat a few weeks ago and remembered how to change the inner tube so, although it took me about 15 minutes, I still got in on time with somewhat oily hands from having to handle the chain to the gear cogs back on!

The one and only Mrs Mannings led Wednesday Reflection and she reminded us of the "Bare Necessities".

The ultimate challenge was to "aspire not to have more but to be more!"

In the afternoon, Mr Alderman called together our new 1804 Society to talk about a couple of very exciting forthcoming events!  More will follow on these but for the moment think - Peace and Pilgrimage!  The Peace bit is about some olive trees that are arriving next week!  Olive trees have a special connection with peace - but do you know why?  Here's a clue:

Genesis 8

The new 1804 Society is a very impressive group of people who will, I'm sure, have significant impact on our life in school.

Lots of drop-ins today - thanks to all!

Glad to report - no puncture on the cycle home, just a couple of weary legs.  It's definitely uphill to St. Helens!
