Saturday - World Food Day - Maria Goretti - special conversations

Let me start this week by reflecting on Saturday's event - the Golden Jubilee Service we had in school for Sr. Margaret's 50 years of religious life!

It's a truly marvellous example of dedication and service and the event we held marking this was very special indeed.  I'd had a few weeks leading up to it worrying about how you pay tribute to that sort of achievement.  After all, planning for Christmas and Easter comes round every year but I've never been to such an event so didn't know if there were any protocols to be observed.  My concerns weren't much assuaged either when one of the Sisters of Notre Dame said (on receipt of the order of service): "It looks like a very unusual sort of service!"

As it turned out though, all went well, but then things do when good people come together to do something special.  The highlight for me was the video of well wishes created by our students and staff.  (2 mins 56 secs)

Thanks to everyone who participated in that!  There was not a dry eye in the house!

Today was World Food Day and thanks to all who brought stuff for the Hope+ Foodbank.

It was also the birthday of St Maria Goretti after whom some of our Forms are named.  So, if you go to the Chaplaincy website calendar section and click on Maria Week, you can see 3 videos which form a mini-biography of her short life.  She was just 11 when she died.

Today was a day of many special conversations - thanks to all who participated in them.
