Living in solidarity with others is one of the strands of Catholic Social Teaching, which runs through everything we do in school.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We sent these cards in the hope that they would reach their destinations but anticipated that some may not.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, during the Christmas break, we received 2 lovely emails from Parishes in Jordan!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>One email said:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>I would like to deeply thank&nbsp; you for the wonderful and profound wishes send by the students to our Lady of Peace Centre.&nbsp;<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>The signature of each student meant a lot to us and touch profoundly our hearts.&nbsp;<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Thanks for your love and kindness<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Fr. Shawki Baterian&nbsp;<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>and another from Fr. Imad Twal from Marka Parish,  Mary Mother of the Church in Jordan reads:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>In the name of My school and community, I&nbsp;would&nbsp;like to thank you for the wonderful and beautiful signatures.&nbsp;This&nbsp;is a symbol of love and solidarity.&nbsp;<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>I\u2019m&nbsp;now a parish priest in the city center one of the poorest&nbsp;area. Thank you. You are in my daily prayers.&nbsp;<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>I just received the letter only on the 24<sup>th<\/sup>&nbsp;of&nbsp;Nov.&nbsp;200<\/em>5<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Merry Christmas and&nbsp;Happy&nbsp;new year&nbsp;<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Our Chaplain has done some research and the name Marka, meaning a place of rest is derived from the disciple Mark. The town was in a strategic location along the pilgrimage route from Damascus to Al-Madinah Al-Munawarah passing through Zarqa, Ruseifeh, Marka, Amman and Ma\u2019in. The residents of Marka are mainly Christian, a mix of professional, skilled and unskilled workers, majority find employment in the surrounding area. The economy of the town and the surrounding areas is average, with less industry and mostly small businesses, shops and offices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Fr Imad also sent some pictures of his parish
