{"id":8387,"date":"2025-01-23T12:59:33","date_gmt":"2025-01-23T12:59:33","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/chaplaincy.stjulies.org.uk\/?p=8387"},"modified":"2025-01-23T13:02:30","modified_gmt":"2025-01-23T13:02:30","slug":"jubilee-2025-pilgrims-of-hope","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/chaplaincy.stjulies.org.uk\/index.php\/2025\/01\/23\/jubilee-2025-pilgrims-of-hope\/","title":{"rendered":"Jubilee 2025 &#8211; Pilgrims of Hope"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1438\" height=\"502\" src=\"http:\/\/chaplaincy.stjulies.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/Jubilee_school_banner.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-8391\" srcset=\"http:\/\/chaplaincy.stjulies.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/Jubilee_school_banner.jpg 1438w, http:\/\/chaplaincy.stjulies.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/Jubilee_school_banner-300x105.jpg 300w, http:\/\/chaplaincy.stjulies.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/Jubilee_school_banner-768x268.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1438px) 100vw, 1438px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Pope Francis has decided that <strong>2025 will be a year of Jubilee<\/strong>, something which happens every 25 years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The 2025 Jubilee Year began on Christmas Eve 2024 but it is being <strong>launched in schools on 24th January! <\/strong> It will conclude on 6 January 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the Catholic Church, a Jubilee or Holy Year is a special year of forgiveness and reconciliation, in which people are invited to come back into right relationship with God, with one another, and with all of creation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The theme is \u201cPilgrims of Hope\u201d, and is a year of hope for a world suffering the impacts of war, the ongoing effects of COVID-19 pandemic, and a climate crisis.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Jubilee Year is an opportunity to respond to God&#8217;s call to turn to him and to pursue justice. In the Jubilee Year of 2000 many Christians joined together to call for cancellation of debt owed by the world&#8217;s poorest countries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Often people will go on pilgrimage during a Jubilee year, to Rome or another holy site. Pope Francis writes:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;Pilgrimage is of course a fundamental element of every Jubilee event. Setting out on a journey is traditionally associated with our human quest for meaning in life.
