{"id":7537,"date":"2023-07-19T14:28:41","date_gmt":"2023-07-19T13:28:41","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/chaplaincy.stjulies.org.uk\/?page_id=7537"},"modified":"2023-09-19T13:55:56","modified_gmt":"2023-09-19T12:55:56","slug":"daily-examen","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"http:\/\/chaplaincy.stjulies.org.uk\/index.php\/daily-examen\/","title":{"rendered":"Daily Examen"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The Daily <strong>Examen <\/strong>is a technique of prayerful reflection on the events of the day in order to detect God\u2019s presence and work out his direction for us.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Examen <\/strong>is very similar to the word &#8216;<strong>examination<\/strong>&#8216; and that&#8217;s really what we&#8217;re doing &#8211; examining ourselves and our day and reflecting on it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This method is widely attributed to&nbsp;Ignatius Loyola in his&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ignatianspirituality.com\/ignatian-prayer\/the-spiritual-exercises\/\"><em>Spiritual Exercises<\/em><\/a>.  One of the few rules of prayer that Ignatius made for the Jesuit order was the requirement that Jesuits practice the <strong>Examen <\/strong>twice daily\u2014at noon and at the end of the day. It\u2019s a habit that Jesuits, and many other Christians, practice to this day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Here at St Julie&#8217;s we will add in an extra time to have this reflection &#8211; during our Sacred Time!
