Feast of the Immaculate Conception

The traditional date for this feast is 8th December but when that falls on a Sunday, the feast is moved so, this year, it’s today – 9th December!

The feast is nothing to do with the conception of Jesus! It celebrates Catholic belief that Mary was born without Original Sin.

Of course, St. Julie had such a special devotion to Our Lady that she called her congregation of women the Sisters of Notre Dame – which is Our Lady in French.

In recognition of Julie’s faith, we are invited to pray the Hail Mary this day!
