In this reading for the First Sunday in Advent, Jesus talks about the importance of being ready! He talks first of all about Noah and how many were not ready for the flood!
He then talks to his followers about being ready for when he would return!
As we get ready for Christmas, let’s take the opportunity to get our hearts right with God and our fellow human beings!
Loving God, we never know quite what is round the corner in our lives.
Help us to be in a state of readiness for when troubles and joys come along.
Help us to make appropriate preparations this Advent – preparations that help us focus on important values like friendship and welcome.
Help us welcome others as we would welcome you.
We pray this in the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. AMEN
