This is the 29th Sunday in Ordinary Time in Year C of the liturgical cycle.
This is one of the lesser known parables about the importance of persistence!
So, what’s this got to do with you?
- Are you like the widow who was persistent and kept asking?
- Are you like the judge who gave into pestering just to have a quiet life?
- When you judge situations, do you do so calmly on the basis of what is just and right, or do you fall on the side of the person who talks most about it?
- If you pray for something and don’t get it, how do you respond?
A very holy person, Cardinal Basil Hume, once said: “I believe that God answers prayers, but sometimes the answer is no!” Do you agree?
help us not to give in,
but to keep seeking justice wherever it is denied.
Give us strength of spirit that we might be persistent.
We ask this in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. AMEN
